Georgian Mourning Band

In 1822 Alex Brymeres passed on, leaving behind this remarkable piece of living history. The mourning ring presents the ideal design system for its time, with the embellished rose and acanthus designs around the edge of the band. This was an influence of the Romantic movement and the embracing of the Gothic Revival style. ​​​​​​​​
This ring still shows the name and date of death around the band in black enamel, something which was being replaced with the bold “IN MEMORY OF” dedication during this time. ​​​​​​​​
